Picasso and his dachshund, Lump, had an unbreakable bond. Lump originally belonged to photojournalist, David Douglas Duncan, but once Duncan saw the connection between Lump and Picasso, he agreed to give him away. The dog was allowed into the artist’s studio while he was painting, and he was featured in many works. After spending sixteen years together, Picasso and Lump died only a week apart, in April 1973.
